Mitral Stenosis

Mitral Valve Prolapse

CORRECT     Clinical Reasoning
Mitral valve prolapse is likely the MOST common valvular heart problem. Greatest threat is the rupture of chordae, usually seen only in those with connective tissue disease, especially Marfan syndrome. Most patients with MVP have a benign condition in which one of the valves leaflets is unusually long and buckles or prolapses into the left atrium causing the mid-systolic click that is heard. You may also see pectus excavatum and scoliosis also signs of Marfan syndrome.
