Acute on Chronic Bronchitis
CORRECT Clincal Reasoning
Pt has a significant smoking history but in order to diagnose COPD the FEV1/FVC needs to be 70% or less. This patient has 75%. It is not asthma b/c after albuterol it only improves 15%. However, b/c his chronic cough has gone on for at least 3 months you can say he has chronic bronchitis which is probably complicated by an URI.
